Design Features: This townhouse development in the coastal town of Point Lonsdale was designed to appear as a single home from the street, with varied but complementary forms, utilising material and physical articulation to obscure the separation of the two dwellings, whilst defining both entrances. Natural timber and earth tones throughout the façade connect the home to its natural surroundings, allowing the development to sit softly within the landscape.
Both townhouses feature generous outdoor spaces, one featuring a courtyard and pool, whilst the other enjoys a covered alfresco area and balcony. This diversity is seen throughout the development, with the townhouses being designed for differing uses, from small to large families. The variation in both program and layout further enforces the aim of the development appearing as one dwelling.
Both townhouses feature large stair voids, which allow for natural light to reach the entrances through the north facing living areas, this natural light helps each townhouse feel more open, despite having an attached neighbour.
Sustainability: The development features R6.0 ceiling insulation, R2.5 insulation to external walls and wet areas, as well as R4.0 insulation between floors. Each townhouse is also fitted with rooftop solar which powers the electric hot water and air conditioning systems.
